New: Service to Costa Rica (read more …)
At the Airport
At the airport, your driver will be waiting for you on the sidewalk, holding a sign with your name on it. After going through baggage claim, and then customs, glass doors lead outside the terminal to the sidewalk where your driver will welcome you and escort you to your vehicle.
Our online reservation system calculates price as you make a reservation. Just begin entering your reservation and check the price at the bottom of the page. It changes to reflect the times and locations associated with your trip.
Serving All of Western Nicaragua
Private service is available to all major cities and locations in Western Nicaragua, including:
- Managua (airport)
- Rivas (for San Jorge and Ometepe island)
- San Juan del Sur
Daily shuttles leave San Juan del Sur for Liberia, Costa Rica, every morning at 6:00 am, for a fare of $40 per person. Trips to San Juan del Sur leave Liberia at 9:15 am. The pickup and destination point in Liberia is the Plaza Santa Rosa, Banco de Costa.
Arrangements can also be made on both scheduled routes and private vehicles providing service within Costa Rica to:
Border crossings are facilitated and you enjoy the reliability and convenience of reserving travel in both countries through Adelante Express.
Because arrangements vary for different locations, our online reservation system does not include Costa Rican locations. But reservations can be easily made, or more information obtained, by calling or emailing now, without obligation.
Friendly and reliable, Adelante Express provides all you need to extend your visit into Costa Rica, or to enhance your visit to Costa Rica with a side trip into Nicaragua.
Locations outside the cites and locations we serve often require time-consuming travel over vehicle-consuming roads. As a service to our customers, we go this additional distance for a nominal additional fee. This is a flat fee for each trip and is not increased for additional passengers in the same vehicle. It is added for areas including Costa Paraiso, Escameca, Nacascolo, Pacific Marlin, Paradise Bay, Playa El Coco, Playa Hermosa, Playa Maderas, Playa Marsella, Playa Remanso, and the Yankee area.
Nicaragua offers some of the best total-trip-cost values in the world. Within that total, transportation may seem closer to what it costs in other countries than does the cost of food, lodging, and other expenses. The reason for this is simple: vehicles actually cost more here than in the US, because of high import duties. Fuel also costs significantly more. Tires and other maintenance items are similarly expensive.
Adelante Express works within these constraints to offer the lowest fares possible that ensure the reliability, comfort, and safety that you and our other customers expect and deserve. Offering a comparable service “cheaper” is simply not sustainable: Something has to give, which typically jeopardizes your safety or comfort, or degrades reliability. Or employees may be cheated of their social security or health care benefits.
Even a competitor that may undercut prices is hurt, because those prices are unsustainable: Vehicles break down due to poor maintenance. There’s no capital for vehicle replacement; and ultimately, they are left with only a reputation for cheap service they can no longer deliver.
Adelante Express is proud to employ primarily local, native residents, so that they can support their families and build our community. By traveling with Adelante Express, and those who compete at the same fair market price, you help to ensure the livelihood of Nicaraguans, at the same time you are ensuring your own safety, comfort, and convenience.
We discourage travel after dark. Nicaragua does not have the same type of limited-access highways you may be used to. Much of the Pan-American Highway between Managua and San Juan del Sur is two-lane and the only paved road in the area. This means that it is shared by everything from ox carts and bicycles to the largest of semi trucks. And it is especially dangerous after dark.
If you are arriving near or after sundown, or leaving on an early flight, we recommend staying at one of the hotels adjacent to the airport. The
Camino Real offers Adelante Express passengers a discount;

We also understand that you may be on a tight schedule and sometimes travel after dark just can’t be avoided. For those situations, we offer trips after dark, for an additional fee.
Managua Pickup Times
In Managua, our first pickup location is the airport. This means there is a possibility of late flights delaying pickups at other locations. If this happens, we make every effort to keep all passengers informed, and to provide alternatives if the delay is extended.
